New @ the National Center: May 2010

NCFP News, May 2010 Family Giving News

National Center President Ginny Esposito spent much of her spring traveling and talking with groups of family donors around the country. Stops on her spring itinerary included Grand Valley State University in Grand Valley, Michigan, and Philanthropy Northwest in Seattle.

While at GVSU, Ginny spoke with public radio station WGVU.org about the essence of family giving, options for family giving, and her new role as Frey Chair for Family Philanthropy Visiting Scholar at Grand Valley State University's Dorothy A. Johnson Center for Philanthropy. An audio recording of her interview is available at the GVSU website.

In Seattle, Ginny and Bill Gates, Sr. were featured on a panel where they engaged in a wide-ranging discussion of issues related to legacy in family philanthropy. The speakers shared their thoughts on involving the next generation, giving globally vs. locally, board composition, perpetuity, family values, and much more in an informal interview with Mary Pembroke Perlin, a board member of the National Center and past board chair of Philanthropy Northwest. A video of the discussion, co-sponsored by the National Center and Philanthropy Northwest, is available on the Philanthropy Northwest blog.
