February 10th: Balancing Data and Desire: The Science and Art of Family Giving: The drive for better data, metrics, and measurement is increasingly looked to as the Holy Grail for philanthropists interested in maximizing the effectiveness of their giving. But the values, ethics, and personal beliefs of families and donors - as well as existing relationships, family dynamics, local commitments, and commitments to particular causes or issues - also play a key role in how a family's philanthropic investments are made. Featuring Cynthia Gibson, Senior Vice President, The Philanthropic Initiative and William M. Dietel, Senior Partner at Dietel Partners and Trustee, F. B. Heron Fund.
March 10th: Intuitive Grantmaking: Trust and Instinct in Family Philanthropy: Featuring a conversation with Kathleen Odne, Executive Director, Dean and Margaret Lesher Foundation and Chet Tchozewski, President Emeritus, Global Greengrants Fund.
April 14th: Project Streamline: Project Streamline is a collaborative effort of grantmakers and grantseekers working to improve grant application and reporting practices. This Teleconference will feature an overview of the tremendous importance and potential of this new initiative for family giving programs from Kathy Reich, Program Officer, David and Lucile Packard Foundation and Jessica Bearman, Principal, Bearman Consulting.

March 23-24 (Washington, DC) Family Foundation CEO Symposium: Planning for the first-ever National Symposium on the role of family foundation CEOs is underway. This symposium is a central component of the National Center's new Family Foundation CEO Initiative, which will assist the National Center in developing a blueprint for use by foundation leaders, including trustees, to maximize board-staff relationships, address professional development needs, and plan for transitions to new leaders in family philanthropy.
April 27-28 (Madison, WI) Building Civil Society Through Family Foundations: Next Generation Contributions: The National Symposium begins at noon on Wednesday, April 27 and concludes by noon on Thursday, April 28. The National Symposium features a keynote address by Virginia M. Esposito, president of the National Center for Family Philanthropy, and is chaired by Julie Bender Silver and David Silver of The Bender Foundation, Inc. of Washington, D.C.
