Bruce Karmazin
Executive Director, The Lumpkin Family Foundation
The Lumpkin Foundation provides grants in the fields of education, health and the environment and does direct program work in the area of non-profit capacity building through the Foundation’s Nonprofit Excellence Program.
After completing a Bachelor of Arts in economics at the University of Buffalo and a Master of Arts in economic history and development at the University of Toronto, Bruce spent two years as a volunteer in Botswana, providing technical and financial assistance to rural business. Upon returning to North America in 1986, Bruce began a career in nonprofit management as a consultant with a large fundraising and management consulting firm and then as development director at two Canadian hospitals. Bruce has directed or worked on fundraising campaigns that generated in excess of $325 million.
Bruce pursued interests in estate planning and nonprofit law at the University of Iowa, where he completed a law degree in 2001. Prior to that, in 1999, he helped found the Iowa Nonprofit Resource Center, a management assistance organization for nonprofit organizations in Iowa. Bruce is a member of the Illinois Bar. He lives in Mattoon with his wife and teenage son.
