Conrad N. Hilton Foundation Awards 2011 Hilton Humanitarian Prize to Handicap International: The Conrad N. Hilton Foundation announced that Handicap International, the largest non-governmental organization providing assistance and advocacy for people with disabilities, has received the 2011 Conrad N. Hilton Humanitarian Prize of $1.5 million. The Hilton Foundation presents the annual award, the world’s largest humanitarian prize, to an organization that is doing extraordinary work to alleviate human suffering. Handicap International was selected for the 2011 Prize by a prestigious independent international jury.
Tiltings from the Quixote Foundation: The Quixote Foundation is a small family foundation seeking to “spend up” its assets by funding a mixture of increased annual grants and one-time, “landmark,” large commitments as it prepares to make its final grants in 2016. In addition to a Twitter Feed, video and FAQ page describing its strategies and approaches, the Foundation offers the Tiltings Newsletter, devoted to exploring to “topics that arise as we seek to support the most urgent causes at hand.” Read more.
