Straight from the Source: Working with a Living Donor

The dreams, life experiences, and personalities of donors and donor couples are at the heart of family philanthropy. Everything from the family’s philanthropic focus and mission to the interaction with potential grantees connects to the legacy of the founders. Sometimes these legacies are living legacies, and there are special opportunities – and occasional challenges – in such cases. Please join us for this special conversation featuring a co-founder and former executive directors of the Jim and Carol Trawick Foundation and the Tauck Foundation. Questions to be discussed include:

  • Does the donor have other vehicles for philanthropy? Is the CEO a resource for that philanthropy as well?
  • What is the vision for after the donor steps down or dies? Has the donor’s intent been articulated? Is this a conversation that the staff and family are comfortable having?
  • How much recognition and publicity does the donor want, and how can staff assist with those desires?
