Two models for giving effectively: Think big, think small

Steve Kirsch and his wife Michele founded a $75 million foundation, which funds important projects for the long-term well being of humanity and the planet. Wayne Muller is founder and president of Bread for the Journey, a philanthropic organization that makes small grants for community service. In this interview, the two describe the benefits of their giving methods: Kirsch discusses long-range goals and the advantages of a large scale, while Muller describes his organization’s small’scale, individualized approach to grantmaking.
