Generations Together User Guide

NCFP Academy

Generations Together is a curated collection of many of the most effective activities for introducing youth to family philanthropy, and for preparing younger family members for future board leadership roles. The curriculum draws from NCFP's deep reserve of articles, webinars, and other training tools for engaging the next generation, as well as from tailored activities and a wide variety of other resources developed by more than fifty NCFP Content Partners.

Depending on your role, we expect you will use Generations Together in a wide variety of ways. Below we offer quick tips for how to get started, as well as lists of specific activities to explore with your next gen family members. Getting Started: Module contents

Each module in Generations Together includes several units related to specific skillsets and experiences. Start by reviewing the Generations Together Curriculum Checklist for a complete list of resources within each module and unit.

Readings have been identified to provide quick insight into various topics and issues surrounding family philanthropy.

Media to tune-into either by watching or listening:

Videos and webinars have been selected to further emphasize each module’s reading topic.

Activities to complete:

These are designed to provide meaningful engagement across family generations. Each Activity, or “Do”, is in turn followed by a (k), (t), (mg) and/or (??):

(k) activities are designed to engage young children in the discovery of family philanthropy

(t) activities are targeted towards teens and/ or young adults

(mg) activities are intended to bring multiple generations of your family together to learn about family philanthropy
