Edward Wang joined Marin Community Foundation (MCF) as Vice President of The Family Office of Philanthropy in July 2023, bringing with him 20+ years of experience in philanthropy, social innovation, and nonprofit management. In this role, Edward leads a team of experienced philanthropic advisors to provide support on giving strategy, family conversations, in-depth issue research, and effective giving practices to donors who work with MCF as the philanthropic arm of their family office. He also oversees MCF’s donor engagement strategy and implementation, with the goal to amplify our collective impact.
Most recently, Edward was the Vice President of Donor Engagement at Silicon Valley Community Foundation, where he led a team that worked directly with philanthropists in the region to move more than $2B annually to address entrenched social challenges locally and around the world. Edward also served as the Director of Corporate Social Impact at Tides, where he was instrumental in significantly growing the portfolio of corporate partners, expanding the scope of services to meet evolving needs, and influencing the future direction of the sector.
Prior to that, Edward was the Senior Advisor for Program Innovation at Tides, advising individual and family philanthropists, foundations, and nonprofits in growing capacity and scaling impact. Edward also held fundraising roles at national education equity nonprofits, managing all aspects of resource development for those organizations and helping to scale their impact.
Additionally, Edward worked for a number of arts organizations and advised on several cross-culture projects, including the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra’s performance at the opening celebrations of 2008 Summer Games in Beijing. Edward has written on topics including the role of corporations in guarding democracy and corporate social impact trends. He cares deeply about social justice issues and actively volunteers with community organizations, currently serving on the boards of Earth Island Institute and Next Generation Scholars.
