Board Chair Peer Network: Effective Board Chairs as Facilitative Leaders
Exclusively available to board chairs of family foundations in NCFP’s member network.
Virtual meeting
Join NCFP Founding President and Senior Fellow Ginny Esposito alongside fellow board chairs to explore the specific qualities leaders need, and the purposeful practices they must adopt, to engender power and accountability in others.
In her recent report, The Successful Family Foundation Board Chair, Ginny draws on in-depth interviews with more than 60 chairs and ten family foundation CEOs to examine the practices and culture that support effective board leadership.
One of the primary conclusions of the study is that the most effective chairs possess the capacity for facilitative leadership—the ability to bring out the best in others without regard for personal ego or power—and a willingness to manage conflict.
During the session, we will focus on what it means to be a facilitative leader, common pitfalls to avoid, and the practices and policies that are critical to enabling a chair’s success.
The final 15 minutes of each Board Chair Peer Network meeting will be reserved for open peer space—an opportunity for informal connection and conversation with your colleagues, regardless of the topic.
This peer network is available exclusively to NCFP Members. Participants must be the current or incoming board chair of a family foundation. Learn more about joining NCFP here.
