The Power of Partnerships: A Family Foundation's Journey to Authentic Connection

Linking its mission and values to research from philanthropic resources, including the Trust-Based Philanthropy Project and the Power Moves framework from the National Committee for Responsive Philanthropy, the foundation crafted a methodology, developed plans, and hired staff members to focus on partnerships. Through listening directly to grantees and other partners, engagement in funder collaboratives and learning communities, ongoing reflection, and regular board reporting, its partnership approach came to life, enabling more flexible, responsive grantmaking, and opportunities to work with and for the community.
