Sara Lawrence Lightfoot is the Emily Hargroves Fisher Professor of Education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. She is a sociologist and examines the culture of schools, the broad ecology of education, and the relationship between human development and social change. She was named chair of the board of the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation in 2002.
