Event capacity is 150 attendees. Registration is limited to two individuals per organization. Registration is exclusively available to board members and CEOs of family philanthropies. Consultants, senior staff who are not CEOs or executive directors, and advisors are not eligible to attend.
Focused on leadership, effective practices, and reimagining our world, the Leadership Retreat is an opportunity to explore the possibilities of family philanthropy and access the necessary resources and partners to steward change.
Join us to gain the knowledge, tools, and resources you need to take bold action, and build a network of peer leaders to support you along the way. Attendees can expect plenaries, breakouts, networking, and small group conversations designed to:
- highlight innovative and tried-and-true models for organizational leadership
- explore approaches to incorporating effective family philanthropy practices that center accountability, equity, learning, and relationships
- provide actionable frameworks to implement effective practices
- cultivate your network of family philanthropy peers.
The three-day program will be a learning journey that starts in an examination of personal leadership styles, strengths, and learning opportunities, moves through an examination of how to lead others (staff members, boards, organizations), and concludes with a look at how philanthropies can demonstrate and promote leadership within their communities or areas of focus.

Location and Travel
The Stein Eriksen Lodge in Park City, Utah provides a beautiful mountain setting, spaces for large gatherings and intimate discussions, and an environment conducive to deep reflection and learning.
NCFP has a limited number of rooms available at the Stein Eriksen for $299/night (plus tax and a resort fee). In addition, NCFP has a limited number of rooms available at the Chateaux Deer Valley for $219/night (plus tax and fees). The Chateaux Deer Valley is an approximately 3-minute walk from the Stein Eriksen where the Retreat will be occurring. Reservations can be made here.

Event Policies
Anti-Harassment
NCFP is dedicated to providing a harassment-free Leadership Retreat experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, ability, physical appearance, race, age, or, religion. We do not tolerate harassment of attendees or staff in any form. This includes, but is not limited to, verbal or physical harassment or the sustained disruption of Retreat events.
Cancellation
NCFP’s flexible cancellation policy allows for full refunds (less a $150 processing fee) through Friday, October 13. Attendees are also welcome to exchange their registration with another eligible attendee at their organization through the beginning of the event. Health
NCFP strongly encourages all Retreat attendees and speakers to be up to date on vaccinations for communicable diseases, such as COVID-19 and influenza. Members and guests are asked to cancel their attendance if feeling sick or showing symptoms of any communicable disease, including, but not limited to, COVID-19 and influenza. NCFP will permit a registration swap for another eligible attendee up until the day before the event.
We will follow masking requirements in conjunction with the hotel, and local, state, and federal guidelines at the time of the event. At this time, we do not expect to require masks and encourage individuals to make the choice regarding masks based in their own comfort and health. Attendees who do choose to wear a mask are expected to bring their own masks.
NCFP will have a limited number of rapid tests for COVID-19 available for anyone that begins to experience symptoms onsite. We will also direct any attendees who are feeling unwell to no longer attend event activities and to seek care at local urgent care clinics if necessary.
NCFP will communicate any changes to this policy based on changing health conditions with all registered attendees.
Photography
By entering this event you are entering an area where photography, audio and video recording may occur.
Your entry and presence on the event premises constitute your consent to be photographed, filmed, and/or otherwise recorded and to the release, publication, exhibition, or reproduction of any and all recorded media of your appearance, voice, and name for any purpose whatsoever in perpetuity in connection with the National Center for Family Philanthropy and its initiatives.
By entering the event premises, you waive and release any claims you may have related to the use of recorded media of you at the event, including, without limitation, any right to inspect or approve the photo, video or audio recording of you, any claims for invasion of privacy, violation of the right of publicity, defamation, and copyright infringement or for any fees for use of such record media.

Non-Solicitation
To provide an environment where donors and those who work with them are able to share and learn from one another, NCFP maintains a non-solicitation policy at its Leadership Retreat. While NCFP hopes its event can be a place for colleagues to connect and develop partnerships, the Retreat should remain primarily a space for learning and networking. Solicitation includes, but is not limited to: requesting funding for any purpose, distributing grant proposals, or requesting business.
Attendees should not use attendee lists for solicitation including to promote events held in conjunction of the Retreat or thereafter.
Any person and/or organization found to be violating this policy may be asked to leave without refund of registration fees, and such activity may result in the inability to attend future NCFP events.
NCFP reserves the right to update our policies at any time. Please continue to refer back to this website for updates on policies and procedures. If there is a significant change to health and safety requirements, we will update policies on this page and send an email notification to all registrants ahead of the event.
