Give As We Grow: Engaging Youth in Philanthropy

As members of the National Center for Family Philanthropy, we are happy to share with our fellow members a new digital platform, Give As We Grow, that we recently launched to help families cultivate a culture of generosity and service in their children.

When our oldest son was four, they passed around a donation bucket at the children’s museum where he had attended a day camp. It was the first time I saw him recognize a need and want to respond, even if just with piggy bank change. I knew I wanted to remember that moment and encourage others like it to come. We looked for resources to support us as busy parents on this journey but couldn’t find a “one stop shop.” So we created it! And we hope it will help your family, too.

Give as We Grow® is an online destination for philanthropic education and tracking, featuring curated and age-appropriate content for kids as young as age three through adulthood. From Sesame Street content for the youngest philanthropists, to books and how-to guides by experts for parents, we’ve aggregated the best resources available to prepare children for lives of purpose. Whether through donating money, volunteering or lending influence, Give As We Grow is designed to help your children give where they go and give as they grow. Once you create a free and private account at GiveAsWeGrow.org, you will have a family dashboard to track each child’s giving over time, as well as access to a volunteer hub to connect with family-friendly opportunities in your area. We hope you will enjoy using it and invite your feedback on our beta site via info@giveaswegrow.org to help us make the platform even better! The first 100 subscribers will be eligible to win a signed copy of Susan Price’s book, Generous Genes!

From our family to yours, happy holidays and happy giving!
