J. M. Johnson is a philanthropic practitioner whose professional journey has included work on issues of environment, race, economics, public health, democracy, and LGBTQ—approaching each with a commitment to advancing equity and justice. At San Francisco Foundation, J. M. coaches individual donors on applying an equity lens to their giving, supporting them in becoming more thoughtful and strategic philanthropists.

J. M. is a leader with a global perspective and 15 years of experience across nonprofit, consulting, philanthropic, and corporate settings. J. M. has guided vision and strategy through the launch and scaling of scores of new organizations, supporting philanthropic and CSR executives in building organizations and initiatives domestically and abroad. While a consultant at Arabella Advisors, J. M. led client engagements from the business development and scoping phase, through implementation, evaluation, and expansion.
