Jake Sargent is a founding partner of Softmatter, a seed-stage venture fund investing in ideas that shape the future of sustainable design. At Softmatter, Jake seeks out investment opportunities in fashion and consumer goods with a focus on advanced materials, supply chain innovation, and values-based brands. Jake’s passion for sustainable design is informed by five years as the President and Creative Director of SIMON MILLER, a contemporary men’s and women’s collection blending Japanese fabrics and aesthetics with quality American construction. Prior to SIMON MILLER, Jake developed a love for artisanship and craft overseeing the development of product and retail for Monocle magazine. Jake was a finalist in the 2014 CFDA / Vogue Fashion Fund, and has been a member of the Council of Fashion Designers of America since 2015. Jake graduated from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles in 2009 with a degree in business marketing.
