Robert (Bob) Fockler

President, Community Foundation of Greater Memphis

As president of the Community Foundation of Greater Memphis, Robert M. Fockler oversees the largest charitable grantmaker in the Mid-South, awarding more than $158 million last year. Under his direction, the Community Foundation manages 1,200 charitable funds for individuals, families, and organizations, with total assets of $1.1 billion. The Foundation administered the Mid-South COVID-19 Regional Response Fund, distributing more than $14.5 million for relief during the pandemic. Fockler also leads the Foundation’s efforts to present community information at LIVEGIVEmidsouth.org and to offer GiVE 365, a dollar-a-day giving program.

Bob brought to the Community Foundation the financial and managerial expertise gained from a 24-year career in investment banking and organizational experience gained from an equally long record of service in the nonprofit world, including chairing grantmaking at both United Way of the Mid-South and the Community Foundation of Greater Memphis. He is a past board chair of Philanthropy Southeast and a graduate of Princeton University.
